Paying Respect

Rin stood in front of the memorial, placing down a bundle of flowers. None of her family had been KIA but she payed her respects to those who died for the village all the same.

"Paying respects to the dead I see. Very honorable" said the voice of Rikimaru as he hung upside down from a tree branch by his legs.

She didnt even bother to face him.
"If youre here to fight then dont bother...And i dont appreciate the mockery.."
She muttered, closing her eyes in prayer.

"I'm not here to fight and I am not mocking you. I have actually come to apologize and I truthfully think that paying respects to the dead is very honorable. Not a lot of people do that these days" he said.

She shrugged.
"They gave their life so i could live mine...If anything, i should be taking their place,"
She mused thoughtfully.
"And we were both doing our villages duty, an apology isnt needed.."

"Lord Hanzou never paid respects to the dead and forbid people from doing so. In fact, he ordered everyone to spit on the graves of the departed, declaring them as weak and pathetic that they couldn't prevent their death" he said emotionlessly.

"Then he is a fool and deserves to be treated as such.."
She stated bluntly, opening her eyes again. She kneeled down, trailing her fingertips over the names on the stone, muttering an individual prayer for each.

"That he is. He is also a very cruel man. I've seen him do things that would make a psychopath blanch in disgust" he said.

"Then i wish to hear nothing more about him.."
She shook her head, clenching her fists.
"To think some of these poor people died at his hands..."
She growled, although it was pitiful.
"It disgusts me..."
